Following the recent implementation of a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS), Pentagon has identified an opportunity to improve both environmental performance and manufacturing capability through investment in new injection moulding technology.
As part of this initiative, two ageing and energy intensive injection moulding presses will be replaced with modern, energy efficient Haitian Zeres V machines. The investment is expected to significantly reduce energy consumption while increasing production capacity, a genuine double win for both sustainability and operational efficiency.
The first machine, a Haitian Zeres V 90-tonne press, is scheduled to arrive in August and will replace a long-serving Sandretto Micro 50-tonne press. In addition to offering improved energy efficiency, the new machine will provide greater control for a specific range of high volume medical moulded components expanding Pentagon's manufacturing capabilities. Preparations are already underway to accommodate the larger footprint required on the shop floor.
The second investment, a Haitian Zeres V 60-tonne press, is due to arrive in early 2027. This machine will replace the existing Sandretto Micro 30-tonne press and will provide a welcome boost to production capacity as the new year begins.
Together, the two new machines are expected to deliver an estimated saving of 53,031kw/h of electricity per annum, while also increasing production efficiency and providing additional manufacturing capacity to support future growth.
