This is the third year of welcoming Work Experience Students from our local schools and another pleasurable experience.
As a business we feel it is important to encourage those that could be the backbone for our industry in the years to come and we hope that the individuals that come to us will warm to Engineering or at the very least will tell their friends of the opportunities available.
This year was no exception, both students although totally different in character took to it like fish to water, getting stuck in and enjoying working in all areas of the business which included mould tool manufacturing & design projects, production planning & scheduling, mould shop, post moulding and packing/despatch. We then ensured that on their last day they could revisit any particular areas of interest.
We pride ourselves in making the students feel welcome by talking to them about what they like doing in a relaxed atmosphere before giving them a tour of the factory, explaining the facilities and work environment whilst introducing them to staff to explain their individual role in the business. This seems to get them ready for the week ahead and feel a part of what is going on.
Both students had a great week with us expressing a keenness to stay and an interest to return during their summer holiday should the opportunity arise, I would like to think that, that says it all.
