On Wednesday 25th April we welcomed first year product design students and their tutor, Steven Smith from Brighton University. Some of our regular blog readers will be familiar with the structure of our on-site student visits but on this occasion, we were able to further enhance their time here on site as we were also joined by Sara Cammarano Ph.D., Senior Industrial Issues Executive at the British Plastics Federation.
You can read about another of our on site visits here.
Polymer careers presentation
Sara delivered an interesting presentation into the exciting world of polymer career opportunities, drawing attention to the BPF CareerZone and enhanced support that the BPF offers throughout education and beyond.
As in previous visits, the students and their tutor were then taken on a tour of our moulding facilities and workshops, encompassing both Pentagon Plastics and Phoenix Engineering. The students were allowed time to speak with various members of our team to further enhance their understanding of our processes and plastics manufacture.
The educational support that we offer to the students does not stop once the tour is over, as we invite them to contact us should they require any assistance or advice within their plastic injection moulding module studies.
Ongoing support to students
We are very proud of the consistent and structured support that we offer to students and universities and it was a pleasure to be able to incorporate the fantastic work of the BPF on this occasion.
We believe that dedicating time to those in education will bring core benefits to the industry going forward. It would be excellent to see other manufacturers providing these types of events in their local areas. This will ensure that a greater number of students benefit and gain an enhanced understanding within their studies and the career opportunities available.
You can learn a lot in a classroom but it comes alive in the workplace!
