Pentagon Plastics looks forward to exhibiting at Med-Tech Innovation Expo

The Med-Tech Innovation Expo will be taking place on 29th-30th April at the Ricoh Area Coventry, and will be our first time exhibiting an industry bespoke show of this kind.

As a well established plastic injection moulding business this will be an exciting event for us to understand how we can grow our current share of the medical moulding market, which currently delivers around 35% of our repeat business. We provide a complete injection moulding service from our one site of manufacture here in Horsham, West Sussex. Our services include Design Assistance, Development, Toolmaking, Repeat Production and Post Moulding operations.

We manufacture a variety of medical components including bespoke stoma care products for the medical sector. The components that we produce are not invasive to the body so we do not currently operate a dedicated clean room facility but we do boast clean practice in the work place which is strictly adhered to by all staff.

We have the opportunity to expand our mould shop capacity having created space to add additional machines to our busy shop, which currently houses 9 moulding machines ranging from 22-280 tonne. This is following on from a major reinvestment programme into our UK manufacturing facility which has encompassed an expanded on-site toolroom, dedicated production offices, and enhanced packing and post moulding departments as well as renovated front office facilities. There is the future potential to look at investing into a dedicated cleanroom area should we identify a real demand for this service from both existing and potential customers alike.

We provide our customers with a range of assistance with regard to product development which can be exceptionally beneficial to the medical industry. in the early stages of product design we can support you to assess fit and function for the final finished part prior to taking the project to final production. Our Modular Insert tooling is a low cost and versatile form of development tooling which can be used to refine key features of an overall component such as latches and locking features for example. This tooling option can be adjusted with your design changes provided that the alterations are not out of keeping with the original component design. From this tooling products can also be trialled in a variety of thermoplastic materials enabling the customer to determine the material best suited to their end product. Our modular insert tooling is manufactured from soft steel by our skilled in-house tool makers. The tooling will fit into our Pentagon owned bolster allowing you to keep costs to a minimum in the development stages before investing into a fully dedicated tool for your repeat production. This tooling can also offer advantages over the rapid prototyping processes available as you can produce low volume production runs in a variety of materials and easily make small adjustments to your product without excessive cost being involved.

Once the development stage of your component is complete and you are looking to take your finished component to production we are able to produce your final dedicated mould tooling and provide you with the repeat production of your component. This can give comfort that we already have a good understanding of your product and your manufacturing requirements.

We also have the on-site capability to produce 3D Printed solid parts from our HP Design Jet printer which can also be used to help access your component in the early design stages. These parts, dependant on volume, can be manufactured to short lead times.
